Intended here is the financial crisis in 2008. I could also have named the picture “The Dance Around the Golden Calf”.
A voluptuous, fat, red monster is stretched out under a red safety parachute. Then there is a calf’s head, around which
several unidentified creatures are wildly dancing. There is also a hunter attacking with a crossbar and on the right and
left sides of the picture, dangerous beasts lie in wait. As a stabilizing pole, a shepherd stands further above supporting
himself on his staff. One can only hope that he can continue to rule as long as the situation remains.
